As you can see from the newsletter stories, August and September have been filled with traditional activities like the annual NVC Golf Tournament and the opening of new venues such as the Puyallup Remembrance Gallery. I’m grateful to the Puyallup Valley Chapter of the JACL for their tremendous effort and for the donors’ generosity in making this a permanent exhibit at the site of the Puyallup Assembly Center. Like many of you, my father’s family was there before moving on to Minidoka. Unlike my mother’s willingness to share her family’s evacuation from Bainbridge Island and incarceration in Manzanar, my dad wouldn’t talk about it. I look forward to learning more about his experience through the Puyallup Remembrance Gallery.
Nisei Luncheon crew and volunteers
Thank you again to Nisei Luncheon crew and volunteers for another creative and fun time of food and friendship. For those of you who were wondering how Chef Jim Shinbo would look in a grass skirt and straw hat, now you know!
Email Announcements
If you are NOT getting our email updates and announcements, please send your email to me (dalewat@msn.com) or to info@seattlenvc.org and I’ll make sure you are added. Many of you on our newsletter list are NOT on our email list. We send over a thousand newsletters out each month, but we have only about half that many on our email list. If you’re not sure, send it to me anyway.
