It was another great day weather wise for the 68^th annual NVC Golf Tournament held at the Foster Golf Course in Tukwila, Washington.

This year’s 68 participants included 12 women golfers and 8 veterans.  Also golfing in the tournament was current NVC Commander Dale Watanabe and current NVC Foundation President Jay Deguchi. 

The golfers were greeted and checked in by Past NVC Commander Mike Yaguchi (US Air Force – Retired) and Past NVC Foundation President Geri Lynne Egeler.  Both did this last year too. After checking in all the golfers, Geri Lynne and Mike rode around the course taking pictures, chatting with the golfers, and enjoying the day.

The tournament started with the traditional drive of a golf ball to honor and remember all the past Nisei Veterans who are no longer with us.  The honor of the drive was performed by Bryan Takeuchi, US Marine Corp Veteran and first Sansei NVC Commander.

After the tournament, the participants met at Nisei Vets Memorial Hall to enjoy a delicious rib steak dinner prepared by Terry Takeuchi (of Terry’s Kitchen fame) and Steve Louie.

Making the golf award presentations this year was Harold Taniguchi, who has served as an “MC” for many community events over the years.  As always, Harold did a great job — we hope he agrees to do this again next year!

• The Women’s flight was won by Carol Shinbo with a net 67. Low Gross went to Asa Lee with a score of 86.
• The Men’s 2^nd flight was won by Mun Taketa with a net 64. Low Gross went to Steve Nakamura with a score of 79.
• The Men’s 1^st flight was won by Victor Yee with a net 64. Low Gross went to Victor Yee with a score of 69.
• The NVC Veteran Perpetual Trophy was won by Gary Takeuchi (US Army Veteran and NVC Life member).
