Fall is finally here, and we’re beginning to take steps to winterize portions of the NVC infrastructure. Speaking of infrastructure, the automated gates on the parking lot is fully functional. Many renters, guests, and volunteers have expressed much ‘relief’ that their vehicles and the Hall grounds are better protected and preserved. Frankly, the one contentious SW corner of the lot has been debris free for over three weeks. We removed the locks on the Memorial Wall gates too.
The Oregon Nisei Veterans WWII Memorial Highway dedication ceremony was very well attended, and NVC was present too. Four WWII Nisei veterans participated and helped unveil the new highway sign! Our vice commander, Dale Kaku, took a trip to that portion of the Hood River Valley and took a picture with the highway sign!
I sincerely thank all the new and seasoned volunteers who make projects and events run smoothly at NVC. We simply cannot accommodate all the tour requests, visits, and conduct all the NVC programs without your involvement.
Finally, we still have service members and members of the foreign service stationed overseas. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as we begin to approach the holiday season.
