The NVC and the NVC Foundation are nonprofit organizations that depend on volunteers to help with their programming needs and the everyday business of maintaining our facilities.  The Volunteer Appreciation Brunch is a way to say “thank you” to our volunteers for their commitment and hard work throughout the year. This year’s event was held on April 1, 2023, and was hosted by Terry Takeuchi of “Terry’s Kitchen” in Bellevue.

NISEI LUNCH REPORT

The Nisei Lunch program was once again pleased that Jim Shinbo agreed to prepare the meal for our April gathering.  I thought the menu selection for April was truly unique and we hope to do more of this type of menu in the future.  Jim’s experiences as a professional chef and his creativity are apparent in his menu selections. 

DAY OF REMEMBRANCE 2023

KEEPING THE REMEMBRANCE STRONG – THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 442ND RCT

The 80th Anniversary of the legendary 442nd Regimental Combat Team (442 RCT) was reverentially celebrated in Honolulu on Saturday, March 25th at Hale Ikena on the rolling green hills of Ft. Shafter, O’ahu, Hawaii.

A DAY AT THE RACES

Join the NVC & NVC Foundation at Emerald Downs on June 18, 2023. The venue for the “Day at the Races” event will again be in the “Trackside Pavilion”. The Emerald Downs “Day at the Races” package includes an Admission Ticket, Official Race Program, Tip Sheet, Snacks, and Buffet Meal.

PUYALLUP REMEMBRANCE GALLERY

The Puyallup Valley JACL is building the “Puyallup Assembly Center” Remembrance Gallery, which will tell the story of the Nikkei in Washington State who were removed or otherwise affected by Executive Order 9066 during WWII.

THANK YOU FOR A CUP OF JOE!

NVC has joined “Cup of Joe for a Joe”, a Green Beans Coffee program that allows you to thank a member of the armed forces for their service with a hot, fresh cup of Green Beans Coffee and a personal message at over three dozen overseas bases where Green Beans Coffee has an outlet.

JAVA SCHOLARSHIPS – CONTINUING THE LEGACY OF WORLD WAR II NISEI MILITARY SERVICE

Washington, DC. The Japanese American Veterans Association (JAVA) announces its annual scholarship award program for 2023. The scholarships will benefit a range of graduating high school seniors, undergraduate students, and post-graduate and professional education students.
