Our August featured article is NVC Commander Michael J. Yaguchi monthly NVC Commander’s Column. Commander Mike sincerely thank all the new and seasoned volunteers who make projects and events run smoothly at NVC. As a token of appreciation, he handed the Nisei Luncheon volunteers the NVC challenge coin at the July and August event.

THE IMPACT OF ICHIRO ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PACIFIC

NVC hosts The Impact of Ichiro on Both Sides of the Pacific at NVC Memorial Hall on Saturday, August 27th. The event is presented by the Seattle Mariners RBI Club Real Baseball Involvement. A panel discussion will be emceed by Lori Matsukawa.

ESSAY: JAPANESE AMERICAN LEGACY – NVC SCHOLARSHIP

TJ Okamura, 2022 recipient of the Nisei Veteran’s Committee Scholarship, is the son of Tim Okamura and grandson of NVC Member, George Okamura. He currently attends the University of Washington.

ESSAY: JAPANESE AMERICAN LEGACY – NVC WOMEN’S AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP

Naomi Fina, recipient of the NVC Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship for 2022, is the daughter of Mari Horita and granddaughter of Korean War Veteran and NVC Lifetime Member, Akira Horita. She plans to attend Carleton College in the Fall.

ESSAY: JAPANESE AMERICAN LEGACY – COL. JIMMY KANAYA SCHOLARSHIP

Tali Tamaki, 2022 recipient of the Col. Jimmy Kanaya Scholarship, is the daughter of Steve Tamaki and Michelle Chinn and granddaughter of Tetsuo Tamaki. She will attend Seattle University in the Fall.
