After a two-year COVID-19 pause to the in-person annual service, the NVC and NVC Foundation and its community of volunteers, supporters, and friends demonstrated strength and resilience to successfully commemorate the 77th Annual Nisei Veterans Memorial Day Service at Lake View Cemetery.
Again this year, the Seattle Buddhist Temple Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts placed over 350 U.S. flags at the graves of Military Veterans buried at Evergreen-Washelli cemetery. The majority of the graves are Nisei veterans who served in WW II.
Thank you all for volunteering your time to make pies, donate baked goods, and sell bakery items for the Chow Mein Dinner! Our gross sales topped $5000 with donations; the net proceeds will go toward next year’s scholarships!!
Meeting new people and sharing one’s common interests and life experiences has been a great way toward building a fellowship and comradery amongst veterans.
What is “Talk story”? Simply put, “Talk Story” is one of the great oral traditions in Hawaii–It is the act of sharing history, ideas, opinions, and the events of the day with other people at any time. This gathering is geared towards veterans of all eras and branches of service; however, it is not limited to veterans only.
A Bill passed by the Oregon state legislature will dedicate a highway in honor of brave Oregon Japanese American World War II veterans was signed by Gov. Kate Brown on Wednesday, June 1, at the state capitol in Salem.
The NVC and the NVC Foundation A Day at Emerald Downs will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Treat the whole family to a day of exciting horse race action and a buffet meal. A Day at Emerald Downs has been a very popular event and will likely sell out again for this year. Space is limited so sign up early.
