COMMUNITY NEWS – JAPANESE AMERICAN CLASSICAL DANCE PRESENTATION

Japanese Classical Dance Presentation, Live Performance

Saturday, October 28th, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm PT

NVC Memorial Hall, 1212 South King Street, Seattle, WA 98144

“Against the backdrop of our rapidly changing world, the erosion of traditional wisdom transmitted through Japanese performing arts is evident. How can we pass down our cultural heritage to future generations? What do we need to do to bridge the past, present, and future?”

Join classical Japanese performing dance artist, Kaya Yamazaki, PhD., as she explores the history of Japanese performing arts among Issei and Nisei Japanese Americans in the WW II incarceration camps. She will also demonstrate, through a live performance, the aesthetics, underlying meaning, and history of two dances from the 18th and 19th century.

Suggested donation $10.  All proceeds go towards the NVC Foundation Scholarship Fund. Information: info@nvcfoundation.org
