The Japanese American Museum of Oregon (JAMO) in Portland is charged with preserving and sharing the history and culture of the Nikkei community.  Their mission is to preserve and honor the history and culture of Japanese Americans in the Pacific Northwest, educate the public about the Japanese American experience during WWII, and advocate for the protection of civil rights for all Americans.

The Executive Director (ED) serves as JAMO’s chief executive officer, overseeing all operational and administrative functions and embodying and advancing our mission, vision, values, and philosophy. The ED’s top priorities include the following:

  • Fundraising.
  • Relationship-building with board and community partners.
  • Ensuring the organization remains mission focused.
