JCCCW will present its 2022 Virtual Tomodachi Gala on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 7:00 pm PT.

All are invited to the third Virtual Tomodachi Gala! During this year’s event, Jake Shimabukuro will receive the 2022 Tomodachi Award from the Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington (JCCCW). The award recognizes his many years of promoting and celebrating the U.S. – Japan relationship through music and education. The event will be held on the JCCCW YOUTUBE CHANNEL, where Jake will hold a small performance as well! Please, join in celebrating this cultural icon. Brady Wakayama, KING 5 News, and Yuna Nishimoto, Compass Group, will serve as emcees.

ACRS will hold its annual Walk for Rice on Saturday, June 18, from 9 am – 12 pm at Jefferson Park on Beacon Hill, Seattle.

Walk for Rice brings people together as a community to raise funds for the ACRS Food Bank and builds awareness about food insecurity in Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (ANHPI) communities. Since the first walk in 1990, Walk for Rice has raised over one million dollars to feed families and individuals experiencing hunger. Every grain counts and every donation, big and small, makes a difference. Please support community members when they need it most. The moment so many have been waiting for has finally arrived! Ayame Kai will be hosting a Summer Craft Fair on Saturday, June 25th from 10-2!! This parking lot event hosts vendors with unique arts, crafts, and treasured collectibles. Also includes baked goods for snacks and treats. Proceeds benefit Keiro Northwest Programs: Nikkei Manor – Assisted Living Facility and Kokoro Kai – Senior Activity Program. Free admission.
