Day at the Races-Yee_ Yaguchi_ Shinbo

The Seattle NVC and Rising Star Stables hosted 80 people for this year’s “A Day at the Races” event held at Emerald Downs Racetrack on Father’s Day.  The event was attended by members of the Seattle NVC, NVC Foundation, Japan Business Association, Consulate of Japan, Rising Star Stables, and their friends and family.

Among the many highlights of the day’s activities was a special tour of the Emerald Downs jockey room, organized by Vicki Potter, Emerald Downs group event coordinator.  The jockey room tour was a unique “peek” into how and where the jockeys prepare for their day of racing.

The days track program featured the Championship Race of the Indian Relay races.  The Indian Relay races is a series of horse races conducted and organized by Tribal Nations representing teams from the U.S. and Canada.

The relay teams represented at this year’s event – the “$10,000 Muckleshoot Gold Cup” competition — included teams from WA, MT, ID and Alberta, Canada.
I must acknowledge and thank the folks from Emerald Downs Racetrack for providing and coordinating, not only the jockey room tour, but also the fine buffet meal and “swag “bags.

This year’s “A Day at the Races” event was funded by a grant received from the Adult Services Division in the King County Department of Community and Human Services.  With their generous support, we were able to enhance this year’s event by adding more buffet options, the swag bags, and the jockey room tour.

Thank you for those folks who attended this year’s “A Day at the Races.” We look forward to next year and hope you can join us for the 2024, “A Day at the Races” at Emerald Downs Racetrack.
